Back when Sam was a baby I got a free dresser. It was never a favorite piece of furniture but it did the job. Until recently. It really stopped doing its job. I cannot even open and close the drawers.

So I started the new-dresser-hunt. Every time I looked at DI I never found something that I could use or was willing to pay the price.
Until one day at DI, I saw this little one:
Not exactly my idea of good decor, but I saw potential. And a price tag I could handle. So I convinced Jason it would be worth the $25 and we loaded it up.

I found two similar dressers that I really liked. So with a sander and some paint, the "beautiful princess" dresser is now something I'm willing to put in my home:
And I totally love how much character an old dresser can have. I love that two of the drawers are missing chunks of wood and that the handles are not perfect. I'm actually quite sad that the place I need it is down in the storage room to hold my fabric....And because I'm married to Jason, and he seems to think we live on a farm of some sort:
