And the farmin' continues...

Just when I thought we had finally reached our max of four legged friends, I get proved wrong. Twice.

Christmas morning, we woke up excited that Santa had come! Shortly after, as we looked in our stockings to see what he brought us, I found this note from him:

I couldn't believe that Jason would give Santa permission to leave this, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was as surprised as me when we went out to find the little porker on the right. ;)
Since pigs are herd animals, it is suggested they have a friend, so our friends bought the one on the left so Bacon would have a friend. Now Bacon and Pork Chop have each other to keep company.

I'll admit it hasn't been as bad as I anticipated it being. And I am a little excited to have our own pork later this year.

Then, yesterday as I walked past the bunny cages, my jaw dropped as I noticed a newborn bunny laying on the cold ground. I assumed it was dead and tried to figure out which bunny had given birth to it! Then i saw it move a little. I quickly picked it up and wrapped it in a towel and breathed warm air on it until it started moving around a lot more. I found a couple signs of gray hair (rabbits pull out their stomach hair to make a nest) so I assumed this little lady was the new mama. Poor thing, we had no idea, so she had no nesting box and way too many roommates! As soon as Jason got home he prepared a cage for her and assuming she still had more deliveries to do, we brought her inside so the little guys wouldn't freeze to death.

By bedtime she was a mama of 6. (I've been trying to reach that status for years!)

So just like that, we went from 17 animals in our care to 25. Seriously?
