happy belated earth day

On Earth Day, a friend of mine, Karie, had a post about little ways to help the Earth. One of the suggested ways was to use a reusable bag at the grocery store. I have some, but I never remember to take them into the store with me.

But today I did!!

I thought I would feel stupid, but I was really proud of myself as I walked out not having used a single plastic bag!

I got these little guys at Macey's for only $.99. They conveniently fold up and snap for easy traveling. I just tucked them in my purse... and voila! I'm green for the day!

So, as the bag says... use this bag....

loop the loop

So, I'm pretty sure this is (again) my latest favorite snack:

I used to buy them all the time, but haven't for a while now. But I just bought some a few days ago, and I have been reminded.... they are so yummy!

I'd like to think I buy them for Sam, but who am I kidding? I buy them for myself, and I'm nice enough to let Sam have some too.

They are the cheaper brand, but way better than any other animal crackers I've ever had. And to top it off, they are educational too! Win-win!!

Here, now you try it!

birthday blast

Jason is so good at making my birthday a special day. (It was yesterday.) He and Sam made me breakfast in bed and woke me up by singing Happy Birthday to me.

Later that morning, our awesome friend, Megan Martin, (THANK YOU AGAIN!!) watched the kids so I could meet up with Jason and go out to lunch and a movie with him. We went to the Training Table to eat, then hopped on over (not literally) to the theater to see Mall Cop. (Funny, but very cheesy.)

Jason then had to return to work for a couple of hours. We met up at home and then took the kids to Fat Cats to enjoy a couple of games of bowling.

Sam had a blast!

Game 1: I did pretty good with a score of 198. Turkeys help quite a bit. But, I choked at the end, I should have broken 200 easy! Grrr.

Game 2: Not so hot for me. Jason did pretty good. Oh, yeah, and my two year old beat me too. He did have bumpers, but he really didn't use them all that much. If you look closely, he got a strike in frame 4. (He's the bottom one.) 124 for a kid who is not yet 3 is pretty darn good!

After bowling, we went next door to Costa Vida to get our usual. Pork burrito, enchilada style... mmmmm. Love it.

After we put the kids to bed, we played a game of Stratego, one of my birthday gifts from Jason. (He must really love me if he is willing to get me another game!) (He doesn't really like to play games too often... and I do!)

It was a very full and fun day. I'm so lucky to have such an awesome husband who loves me and treats me so good, not only on my birthday, but every day of the year.

cup of tea

I just got this email from my sister, Leesa, and I thought it was too cute to pass up.

(I don't know who that little girl is, if you're wondering.)

Cup of Tea

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident.

Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.

My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up.

Then she says, (as only a mother would know.. :)

'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?

recharge

the last few days sam has been playing very hard. so hard, that he does not have time for a nap. he seems to be ok, then CRASH!

yesterday, he was playing at his friends' house, and i went to get him for dinner. he was quite upset with my decision to bring him home. i set him down in the entry. he cried. he continued to cry all the way to his room (he went there on his own) and put himself in his bed. he then fell fast asleep.

since it was only 6:00, we didn't know if we should let him sleep or not. we didn't want to deal with the crankiness, so we left him.

maggie went in and licked his face. jason is pretty sure he was still asleep with his eyes open. he then returned to the deep slumber.

he didn't wake up until 3:30 this morning, and i was worried i made an awful decision. he got a drink, went to the bathroom, and then back to bed.

and slept until 7:30 this morning... for a total of 13 1/2 hours of sleep.

the end.

another day at the pond

On Wednesday night we went back to the duck pond to have a little picnic for dinner. Sam has been asking about going back to 'catch a duck' for a while now.

(We didn't really let her eat that.)

Luckily he was content just to catch fish.

I love it that a mother's kiss and a band aid can cure everything.
